County Library Offers Zumba Classes
The Cape May County Library offers weekly Zumba exercise classes with instructor Kelly Wood. Classes begin on Tuesdays, September 6th and run through December 20th. Classes will take place at 4:30 and 6 p.m. at the Main Branch Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Zumba is a Latin dance inspired fitness class with easy to follow moves that anybody can do. The routines feature interval-training sessions that secretly tone and sculpt your body while burning fat and the music will make you want to move.
Kellie Wood is owner of Woody’s Surf and Skate in Rio Grande. Wood has been certified in the instruction of Zumba exercise since 2009.

County Library Offers Genealogy Workshop
The Cape May County Library will offer a three day genealogy research class instructed by Ardis Crull on September 6th, 7th and 8th at 5 p.m. The program will take place at the Main Branch Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
“Introduction to Genealogy Research” is a basic course for anyone interested in starting to research their family. The instructor will cover how to organize your research, using census records and some useful internet sites.
Ardis Crull is a retired school teacher and has been teaching genealogy classes for the past ten years. Crull’s personal research into her family has lasted twenty five years with rewarding results.

County Library Offers Beginner Dance Course
The Cape May County Library will host a four-week dance course, “Beginner Dance”, instructed by Linda Johnston at 4:30 p.m. on Mondays beginning September 12th. The program will take place at the Lower Branch Library located at 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas.
The workshop will focus on the fundamentals of dance movements such as jazz, tap, free style and ballet.
Linda Johnston has been practicing and studying dance since age four. Johnston has made a lifelong career out of dancing, including performing at Radio City Music Hall as a Rockette, owning and operating three dance studios and touring in a local vaudevillian show.

County Library Offers Advanced Memoirs Writing Workshop
The Cape May County Library will offer a six-week workshop “Advanced Memoir Writing” presented by Eva Feely. The program will take place at 5 p.m. on Thursdays starting September 15th at the Lower Cape Branch Library located at 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas.
Participants will learn revision and crafting options to enhance reader response to their memoir pieces and learn how to recognize what doesn’t fit into their project. You will be taught principles for developing an effective Writing Response Group to give and receive critique on your work.
Eva Feeley is a freelance writer from Sea Isle City who enjoys the genres of essay, poetry, short story and memoir. Feeley is a member of the Jersey Cape Writers and has read her work at the Cape May Fine Arts Exhibit and the Great Bay Gallery Exhibit in Somers Point.

County Library Hosts Natural History Lecture on Dune Ecology
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Dunes of South Jersey” presented by Joe Alvarez. The program will take place on Monday, September 19th at 5:30 p.m. at the Lower Branch Library located at 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas.
The indigenous animal populations of South Jersey have co-evolved with the native plant species for hundreds of years. A native plant is a species that has historically occurred in a particular ecosystem. This program will help develop an understanding of the plants and animals found with a maritime forest and natural dune ecosystem. These ecosystems play a larger part within an international setting for species that use southern New Jersey as part of their annual migration pattern.
Joseph Alvarez has a Bachelor of Science Degree, is a Board Member of the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge and a Certified Rutgers Master Gardner.

County Library Hosts Lecture on Native Plants and Wildlife
Cape May Court House – The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Native Plants for Wildlife: Fall Blooming Perennials” presented by naturalist Pat Sutton. The program will take place on Monday, September 12th at 6 p.m. at the Main Branch of the Cape May County Library located at 30 E. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Naturalist Pat Sutton will showcase native Fall blooming perennials and the birds, butterflies, moths and other creatures that are dependent upon or will benefit from the blooms.
Sutton has studied the natural world for thirty years. She and her husband, Clay Sutton, wrote the landmark book, Birds and Birding at Cape May, an in-depth result of their efforts over many years documenting and protecting the migration and the Cape May area. Sutton’s wildlife garden is a teaching garden included on many tours.

County Library Hosts Interior Design Lecture on Color
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Interior Design: Color” presented by Valerie Driscoll. The program will be held on Saturday, September 10th at 10 a.m. at the Lower Branch Library located at 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas.
Are you afraid of color? Let this class be your first session in “chromatherapy”. A few gallons of paint can be the easiest and least expensive way to change your home from bland to fantastic. Learn basic color theory and how to apply it to your home’s interior design plan.
Interior Designer Valerie Driscoll, owner of Three Grace Interiors, believes that anyone can have a beautifully decorated home no matter what the budget. Her no sew/lo sew classes have taught many DIYers to design and execute custom window treatments which enhance the beauty and value of their homes. Driscoll’s decorative painting and interior design work can be seen on and off the islands, as well as Philadelphia, Northern New Jersey and New York.

County Library Hosts Cooking Demonstration on Preserving Food
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Cape Cuisine: Preserving the Fall Harvest” presented by Chef Mark Kalla. The program will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 17th at the Main Branch Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Chef Mark Kalla will demonstrate techniques and aspects of the various ways to preserve your garden harvest. Recipes for tasty morsels such as pepper relish, marinated egg plant and pesto will be shared.
Chef Mark Kalla is the head chef at Green Cuisine Restaurant in Stone Harbor and also runs the Avalon Elementary School cafeteria and teaches culinary instruction to children during the summer.
