Welcome to the 2016 Cape May County 4-H Fair!
I hope you thoroughly enjoy your time at the Fair! The 4-H shows, exhibits, and demonstrations that you will see today are just a small slice of what happens in 4-H year round. I encourage you to ask one of the 4-H members to tell you about their 4-H experience.
In 4-H, youth in grades K-13 can learn about anything: from nutrition to robotics, from sewing to shooting sports and from rocketry to environmental science, and of course animals of all kinds. All 4-H programs focus on three main areas – Science, Healthy Lifestyles, and Citizenship. Through these different subjects, 4-H youth learn by doing through age appropriate activities and gain leadership and life skills while having fun!
The NJ 4-H program reaches nearly 40,000 youth each year largely through efforts of our dedicated 4-H volunteers. Volunteers are truly the heart of 4-H. Last year, over 1,800 adult volunteers donated their time and talent to the New Jersey 4-H program. The 4-H program would simply not be possible without the caring volunteers who mentor, teach and lead by example. On behalf of the NJ 4-H Program, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to each and every 4-H volunteer!
If you aren’t already involved, consider joining 4-H – as a youth member or as a volunteer. There is a place for all ages and interests in 4-H.
Thanks for taking the time to learn more about the 4-H program during your visit to the Cape May County Fair!

Cape May County – I’d like to suggest to the Herald that they leverage spout offs draw and replace some of the ads for their paper with a few paid ads that you probably can charge a little extra for. Lots of people…
