A Message from the State 4-H Program Leader

By

On behalf of Rutgers New Jersey 4-H Program, I welcome you to the annual Cape May County 4-H Fair. The 4-H shows, exhibits and demonstrations that you will see today are just a small slice of what happens in 4-H year round. I encourage you to ask one of our 4-H members to share with you the highlights of their 4-H experience. Some youth have just a year’s worth of experience to talk about while many others have spent many growing years in the 4-H program.
I would like to congratulate the more than 39,000 New Jersey youth who participate in a wide range of 4-H activities, including science, healthy living and leadership programs. In addition to learning about their 4-H projects, these 4-H members have learned valuable life skills that will prepare them as leaders for the workplace and for life. These youth will undoubtedly be prepared to live out the 4-H motto of “Making the Best Better.”
4-H wouldn’t be possible without the caring volunteers that dedicate their time and talent to the program. Nearly 2,500 adults and more than 400 youth donated over 550,000 hours of service to New Jersey 4-H by serving as 4-H leaders who facilitate engaging programs and provide extraordinary mentoring for 4-H youth. I extend my sincere thanks to each and every 4-H volunteer.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about 4-H while visiting the fair. To learn even more, check out nj4h.rutgers.edu and follow New Jersey 4-H on Facebook.
Sincerely,
Rachel Lyons
