COURT HOUSE — Ever wanted to be a part of Cape May County history? You can have your chance at this year’s 4-H Fair, which is fast approaching. The 4-H members and Cape May County Board of Agricultural members are asking for volunteers.
The Cape May Board of Agricultural Bar-B-Q dinner has been in existence since 1955. For 58 years nearly 600 fresh chickens are cooked nightly on a 40-foot long barbeque pit. More than two tons of charcoal is burned over the three-day event. And it takes a lot of hands to serve that much chicken and with your help we can make this another successful Chicken Bar-B-Q.
This year fair will take place Thurs., Fri., and Sat., July 17, 18 and 19, 2013 Public hours for the fair are noon to 9:00 p.m. each day. It being held at Rutgers 4-H fair grounds, 355 Ct. Hse. S. Dennis Rd., Cape May Court House, N.J. Admission is free and parking is available at Cape May County Technical High School, exit 11 on the east side of Garden State Parkway on Moore Rd. They offer free shuttle to fair grounds running every 15 min. Also limited parking for a $ 5.00 donation at Atlantic Cape Community College next door to the fair grounds. We ask that there be no parking directly on the fair grounds; if you need to drop off, do so then please park at one of the above areas.
Are you are able to help with the Bar-B-Q this year your participation will be most welcome. To volunteer, please call Dana Tyndall at (609) 465-5115, ext 607.
