The Cape May County 4-H Fair promises to be more colorful than ever this year with the 2nd Annual 4-H Color Fun Run adding to the festivities.
The 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk/Run will take place on Saturday, July 23 with same day registration starting at 8 a.m. followed by the Color Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. The race takes place at the 4-H Fairgrounds located at 355 Court House – South Dennis Road in Cape May Court House.
The Color Fun Run is an un-timed race in which, runners/walkers are doused from head to toe in different, washable colors at various points along the race. With only two rules, the idea is easy to follow:
1. Wear white at the 8:30 a.m. starting line to get the most color splatter.
2. Finish plastered in color with a smile on your face!
4-H Program Coordinator Linda Horner admits laughingly that last year’s inaugural race was a learning experience for organizers. “We made all of the color ourselves, and it seemed like there was so much of it at the time. Once we started throwing it on the 180 runners, however, we found out it went very fast. This year we have 150 pounds of color! We also plan on getting participants much wetter with some really cool sprinklers.” She adds, “It’s going to be a lot of fun!”
The Color Fun Run is a great family event that gives children and adults the opportunity to have fun together while getting exercise at the same time. So, if you love color and you like to walk or run, you can support the 4-H Program Advisory Council by participating in the 4-H Color Fun Run or by stretching out along the race route to cheer on the runners by tagging them with a blast of color as they race toward the finish line.
