24 Carrots 4-H Club

The 24 Carrots 4-H Club is a new club in Cape May County this year. Our club is made up of members from some of the other 4-H clubs, and also includes some new faces from the community. Our club primarily focuses on teaching our members about caring for and working with horses and supporting our community.
We meet the second and fourth Mondays of the month and do many different activities learning about horses. Our club has about eight members ranging in age from Cloverbuds (third grade and below) to freshmen in college. The mix of ages makes for some really fun meetings and great group activities.
This year we have had some really interesting meetings, such as making our own horse bingo game with giant bingo cards, doing a fun activity with horse colors and markings, and learning about the anatomy of the horse and labeling the parts on a real horse.
We also did clinics where the kids got to do some hands on activities with horses. Clinics included a polo and leg wrapping clinic, and a showmanship and grooming clinic where they learned proper show etiquette, how to handle horses in a showmanship class and how to get their horses ready for a show.
The club’s community service projects included a road clean up, dune grass planting and helping with projects to honor our troops. Every member has put in a lot of time and effort this year to really experience and appreciate all that Cape May County 4-H has to offer.
All of our club members are very excited for the 4-H Fair and can’t wait to show everyone what they have learned so far! We hope to see you at the Cape May County 4-H Fair where you can meet the 24 Carrots Club members and see what they have accomplished this year.
