COURT HOUSE — The Cape May County 4-H Youth Development Program congratulates the winners of its 2016 4-H Equestrian of the Year Contest. Victoria McCann, Cape May, was selected by a panel of judges as the 4-H Senior Equestrian of the Year. McCann is an active member of 4-H, including the Shore Blazers 4-H Club. Tessa Wozunk, Cape May Court House, was the 1st Runner-Up in the 2016 Senior 4-H Equestrian of the Year contest and a member of the Hy-Riders 4-H Club.
The 2016 Junior Equestrian of the Year title was awarded to Kathleen DeGenova of Cape May Court House. DeGenova is a member of the Wranglers 4-H Club. Mina LaFrance, from Woodbine and Hy-Riders 4-H Club, was the 1st Runner-Up, 2016 Junior 4-H Equestrian of the Year.
2015 Senior 4-H Equestrian of the Year, Kelly Suter and the 2015 Junior 4-H Equestrian of the Year, Elise Heim, both from Cape May and members of the Shore Blazers 4-H Club presented the awards.
The 4-H youth are judged in three categories: resume, personal interview and stage presentation. This year’s title bearers will represent 4-H at events around the county and state and at the 2016 Cape May County 4-H Fair on July 21, 22, and 23 at the 4-H Fairgrounds in Cape May Court House. Also, Victoria McCann will compete in the New Jersey 4-H Equestrian of the Year Contest in Aug.
