COURT HOUSE – Each summer, Cape Regional Medical Center’s Volunteer Services office sponsors the “Pre Med Orientation at the Shore Program.” This year’s program was led by Program Director, Jeffrey Tenner, D.O. a Board-certified General Surgeon. The 12 “Pre-Med Orientation at the Shore” Program students attend The University of Delaware (2), University of Virginia, University of Illinois, Florida Southern College, Penn State (2), Brown University (2), Rowan University, Atlantic Cape Community College and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Each student fully utilized the opportunity to observe in various areas throughout the Medical Center, including time spent in the cardiac catheterization laboratory as well as operating room. Several students were even fortunate to actually witness a birth while rounding in Maternity. The students also benefited from shadowing several area physicians in their offices.
Cape Regional Medical Center’s Pre-Med Orientation at the Shore Program offers medical career-oriented college students observational opportunities in the medical setting. The Program ran from July 5 – July 29 and, at the Program’s conclusion, a luncheon was held in the students’ honor, affording a great opportunity for the students to share their feedback with various members of the Hospital’s administrative team.
“Mentoring is a responsibility of the medical community,” stated Jeffrey Tenner, D.O., Program Director. “We are proud of these 12 students and wish them the greatest success in their education and future career endeavors. Knowing we had a part in their education is very rewarding.”
“Our thanks to all of the Medical Center staff who provided the program’s students with an exceptional experience. The students’ enthusiasm and dedication during this intensive program is truly commendable,” stated Julie Paolella, Director of Volunteer Services.
