By Press Release

SOMERS POINT – Seventeen Atlantic and Cape May County residents became Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children volunteers June 18 after 30 hours of instruction in child advocacy, the court system and cultural competency. As CASA volunteers, they will advocate on behalf of children and youth living in the foster care system and recommend necessary resources and services to the family courts. The ultimate goal is to ensure that the children attain safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
They join over 200 other CASA volunteers who serve 60 percent of the children living in foster care in Atlantic and Cape May counties.
Individuals interested in becoming a CASA volunteer should attend the information sessions held monthly at the CASA office at 321 Shore Road, Somers Point. For more information, call (609) 601-7800 or visit www.AtlanticCapeCASA.org
