To the Editor:
According to all national polling, it is very clear that the citizens of the United States want term limits for Congress. Congress will not allow this to happen.
The Founding Fathers knew that the Congress could become, in fact, what they have become. Therefore, they created Article V of the Constitution calling for a convention by which the states could impose term limits on Congress.
As a volunteer to an organization, U.S. Term Limits, I have obtained thousands of petition signatures from citizens in Cape May, Salem and Cumberland counties. Democrat and Republican citizens are unified on this issue.
I have communicated with all 40 New Jersey state senators seven times. Sens. Testa, Singer, Gopal, Pennacchio and Bucco have introduced resolutions to the state Assembly calling for term limits for Congress.
I have also attended one governing body meeting in every municipality in Cape May County, including the county commissioners. Each elected official was asked if they would join the people and sign the petition. We the people are grateful to the five senators and 10 elected officials for joining us.
