CHILA, THERESA ANN
Theresa Ann Chila passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, in Avalon, New Jersey, at the age of 78. Born on November 9, 1946, in Towanda, Pennsylvania, Theresa's life was a tapestry of love, friendship, and community involvement.
A devout Catholic and long-time member of the St. Brendan the Navigator Parish at Maris Stella Church, Theresa's faith was a cornerstone of her being. Her commitment to her community was evident through her active participation in the Avalon Garden Club and The Shore Club, where she shared her warmth and kindness with those around her.
Theresa was the beloved matriarch of a close-knit family that stood as the epitome of her world. She shone particularly brightly as a mother to Christine Hawkinson (Richard), Anthony Chila (Tara), and Andrea Scenna (Michael), instilling values of love and compassion that will continue to resonate through generations. Her joy was multiplied by the laughter and adventures shared with her cherished grandchildren, Vivian, Victor, Ella, Scarlett, Aubrey, and Dominic.
Theresa's siblings, sister Charmaine Stempel and brothers William and Thomas Hollenback, held an irreplaceable place in her heart. Her life was further enriched by the enduring bond with Dominic Chila, the father of her children, and Leslie Willard. She had a special relationship with her nieces, nephews, and friends both near and far, whose support to the family will always be remembered with profound gratitude.
With her friendly demeanor and loving nature, Theresa made connections that lasted a lifetime. She lived in Avalon and Bonita Springs, FL after relocating from Wenonah, New Jersey. Her interests were a reflection of her zest for life; she reveled in playing golf, cards, and Mahjong. Her competitive spirit found a playful outlet in games of Words With Friends against her sister and best friend, Charmaine. Theresa's wonderful group of friends was a testament to her loyalty and the ability to cherish each moment together.
Above all, Theresa was committed to her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a constant presence in their activities, supporting and encouraging every step of the way. She demonstrated through her actions the immense joy that can be found in life's simple moments.
