CAPE MAY CITY – The Police Department, along with city firefighters, delivered some Christmas joy to friends and families across Cape May Island.

The Police Department, under its Sgt. William J. Alvarez Toy Drive Committee, had gathered toys and gifts collected thanks in great part to the generosity of many local families and businesses.

The department and committee said in a statement, “We are blessed to live in a community that does not allow others to go without or just cares enough to do more. We can’t begin to thank all those who contributed this year and every year; some very loyal friends of the toy drive, always there to step up.

“We appreciate all of your support. It means the world to the receiving families. You all know who you are, we couldn’t do this each year without you all. We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a bright New Year!”
