On the evening of February 27, students, families, and guest judges gathered to admire and assess science projects at Cape Christian Academy. In collaboration with Innovate, a local homeschool cooperative group, over 100 students of all grades participated in the annual fair.
Various subjects were tackled, everything from “What is the best stain remover?” to “Do video games improve reaction time?” Each project followed the Scientific Method, and each board featured a chosen Bible verse that applied to the topic.
Those in the 3rd to 8th grades had the added element of competition. Ribbons were awarded to the top ten projects. Once students had the opportunity to present to the judges, the final awards were bestowed by grade category. Other winners were 4th grader Zoey Gray, who came in second with her project, “Observing Liquids We Drink and Their Effect On Plant Life,” and 8th grader Ryleigh Wells, who won first place with her project, “Are all water bottles created equal?” Wells will go on to compete in the Jersey Shore Science Fair at Stockton University March 16.
