RIO GRANDE – Join ShopRite of Rio Grande for the 2nd Annual “Canned Beats” Musical Food Drive event, held at the Rio Grande ShopRite on Sunday, October 22. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., volunteers will collect canned goods and other non-perishable necessities on behalf of the Cape May Community Food Closet, an incredible local organization that works to fight hunger and food insecurity in our area.

The “Canned Beats” Musical Food Drive will feature a live DJ, as well as a raffle with multiple prizes to be won! Shoppers can enter the raffle by making a monetary donation, or by donating an item from the Cape May Community Food Closet’s “Most Needed Items” list, which can be picked up from our volunteers at the entrance to the store.

The raffle drawing will be held shortly after the event wraps up at 3 p.m., with all proceeds and donations going directly to the Cape May Community Food Closet. So come out and have some fun with us from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 22nd, and help us support an amazing non-profit organization that makes a difference right here in our community.

About the Cape May Community Food Closet

We believe in the power of a caring community that ensures all our neighbors have the nutritious food they need in Cape May, Cape May Point, West Cape May, and Lower Township. Our mission is to fight hunger through procurement and distribution of groceries for qualified or low-income people, both on a regular schedule and an emergency basis.

We accomplish our mission by partnering with donors and volunteers in order to provide more resources for those who face food insecurity. Over 120 volunteers contribute their time and expertise to our operation, and we always welcome more.

The Cape May Community Food Closet has been serving the people of the Cape May area since 1982. Since 2018, it has been a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is qualified to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions from individuals and businesses.
