To the Editor:
Covenant House feeds, shelters and cares for young people – many of whom are street children. When I find myself indulging in self-pity over the difficulties of aging, I remember the grace of God that gave me parents who raised me with love and care.
“Sometimes God Has a Kid’s Face,” a book by the late Sister Mary Rose McGeady, former president of Covenant House, compiles poems, stories and prayers from the children. When I remember to pick it up and read, I’m reminded of the reality of fear and the deep need for hope these young people have.
The Bible tells us in Daniel 10:19: “Don’t be afraid.”
