CAPE MAY – Beginning on Friday April 12th and continuing thru the week of April 15th, the final paving operation of Beach Avenue will be underway. This includes the paving of the final surface course. During normal working hours as the paving proceeds, Beach Avenue will be restricted to one lane in the east bound direction with west bound traffic detouring around the work zone as has occurred with the previous milling operation. Two-way traffic will resume at the end of the day. Weather permitting, paving will start at Broadway (CR 626) with the east bound travel lane being paved heading toward Pittsburgh Ave (CR 622) beginning on Friday 4/12.

On Monday 4/15, the paving will start at Pittsburgh Ave (Cr 622) and the paving of the westbound drive lane toward Broadway will proceed. On Tuesday 4/16, the shoulder area between the east bound travel lane and the concrete or wood bulkhead will be paved. Wednesday 4/17, the shoulder area between the west bound travel lane and the northerly curb line will be paved.

The remainder of the week will be spent addressing intersections and other irregular shaped shoulder areas, it is anticipated that all paving will be completed by April 19th.

During the paving period, Beach Ave will remain open to traffic in one direction during paving operations and both lanes will be opened at night. However, motorists are urged to proceed with caution due to temporary drop-offs with the new paving edge and the lack of traffic striping. Centerline reflectors will be placed as a temporary guide to segregate the travel lanes until permanent striping is in place.
