BAKER, AMY JOYCE
It is with great sadness the family of Amy Joyce Baker announce her passing on Sunday, September 29th at her home surrounded by those who loved her dearly.
A beautiful soul, Amy fought a long and hard battle with cancer. Her courage, determination and bravery were like no other.
Born September 25, 1978 in Millville, she was the daughter of the Curtis Zimmerman and the late Molly (Sheppard) Zimmerman. She was a 1996 graduate of Millville Sr. High School. She was employed by the Millville Police Department and the Millville Municipal Courts. Most recently, Amy was employed as the Supervising Accounts Clerk for the Cape May County Sheriff's Department.
Amy enjoyed the ocean and everything about it. She found peace kicking off her flipflops and relaxing by the ocean, listening to the waves crash and watching the sunset, or casting a line hoping for the big catch – most likely listening to the late, great Jimmy Buffett. One of her favorite places to be was at her home in Hatteras, NC, with her husband Jason.
When she wasn't at the beach, she could be found cheering on her Philadelphia Phillies. She had an adventurous side and had a heart of gold, always worrying and caring for others.
She is preceded in death by her mother Molly (2009), and her mother-in-law Barbara Surdak (2007). Amy will be forever loved and missed by her husband, Jason whom she married on September 9, 2011. They recently celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary. Her spirit and adventurous side will live on in her sons Justin and Jase.
She is also survived by her father Curtis; brothers Michael (Karen), and Mark (Dawn); mother-in-law Kelly O'Brien Baker; sisters-in-law Darlene Aleksza (Stephen), Jennifer Ladzenski and Dara Baker; and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Amy's Life will be held Friday, October 4th at 1:00 PM at the Townbank Fire Company, 224 Townbank Road, North Cape May, NJ. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be held on the grounds of Cold Spring Cemetery. As per Amy's love of the ocean, the family request donations be made in her memory to N.E.S.T. Network for Endangered Sea Turtles. Nestonline.org
