AVALON – The borough has been recognized as a top performer in the Atlantic County Municipal Joint Insurance Fund. The group’s top awards went to three of 39 municipalities that participate in the fund.

The award was presented at a meeting in Vineland on March 28. Avalon Safety Coordinator Ed Dean accepted the honor on behalf of the borough.

Business Administrator Scott Wahl informed the Borough Council of the award at its meeting April 10. Wahl said the award is the result of a team effort across all borough departments to promote safe practices.

Avalon has a safety team that meets monthly to identify best practices and implement them in an effort to keep residents and visitors safe, Wahl said.
