Frances M. Ascoli, 83, Cape May, entered into eternal rest Saturday evening, April 5th at her home with her family by her side.
A lifelong Cape May County resident, Frances was born December 11, 1941 in Wildwood to her parents the late John and Janet (Seitz) Maguire. She graduated from the former Wildwood Catholic High School. After graduation, she studied to become a flight attendant and worked in the aviation industry for 35 years. She retired from Delta Airlines after 29 years of service.
Fran took great pride in her Irish heritage. She was a member of the LAOH-the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernian's-Our Lady Star of the Sea Cape May County Division 1. She was also a member of the Parish of St. John Neuman Church of St. John of God, North Cape May, where she was a member of the choir.
She loved to travel the world and see the beauty that it holds. She made several trips to Africa and ventured on Safaris. Her proudest accomplishment was obtaining her United States Coast Guard Captain's License June 6, 1980. She and her late husband Fred enjoyed captaining their boat and fishing the waters off the Atlantic Ocean.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by the love of her life-her husband Fred A. Ascoli who died January 01, 2001.
Fran will be deeply missed by her sons Capt. Fred L. Ascoli (Irene Gibbons) and Dr. Carl Ascoli (Claudia); grandchildren Amanda-Lyn (Josh) Pierce, Aurora Gangloff, John Ascoli, Dr. Anthony Ascoli (fiancée Mary Donahue), Nina Ascoli; great grandchildren Hope Pierce and Jetty Gangloff; brother John Maguire; nieces Lauren Maguire (Mark Schumacher) and Shawn Maguire (Matt Zielinski); great nephews Desmond Maguire and Sion Zielinski and great niece Malana Zielinski; and many dear friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, April 14 at the Parish of St. John Neumann Church of St. John of God 680 Town Bank Road North Cape May, NJ 08204. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10 AM until 10:45 AM at the Church. Interment will be held on the grounds of St. Mary RC Cemetery 1056 Seashore Road Cape May.
