CAROLYN A.
Carolyn A. Simmerman, 84 of Cape May Court House, NJ passed away September 17, 2025. She was born in Cape May Court House to the late Walter and Thelma Wills and was a lifelong resident of Cape May County. Carolyn graduated Middle Township High School and remained active in the Alumni Association. Carolyn formerly played the national anthem on trumpet before the high school football games. She went on to work for the Lower Township School System, both at Teitelman Middle School and Lower Cape May Regional High School, as a Basic Skills Proctor and supervising the computer lab.
Carolyn was also a sponsor and supporter of both the South Seaville Camp Meeting and Ranch Hope. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she also sang in the choir. As a teenager she loved dancing every Friday night at the Cape May Convention Center. She was predeceased by her husband Gilbert E. Simmerman in 2018.
Carolyn is survived by her children: Kimberly Thompson and her husband Rewi and Gilbert “Buddy” Simmerman and his wife Nancy; grandchildren: Kelli and husband J.P., Tamra and partner Demetrius, Jason and partner Julia, Camryn, and McKenna; great grandchildren: Selah, Cormac, and Kaea; nieces LeeAnn Ryder and Kathy Ryder; and dear friend Diane Alexander. She is also predeceased by her sister Dorothy Ryder.
Services will be Friday, September 26, 2025 at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Cape May Court House, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carolyn's name to Ranch Hope, PO Box 325, Alloway, NJ 08001 or at www.ranchhope.org.
