BREUSS,
JOSEPH ADAMS, Sr.
Joseph Adams Breuss, Sr., affectionately known as Pop, Poppy, Pop Pop, Mr. Joe, Big Joe, Smokin' Jokin' Plumbin' Joe, or Senior, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 2, 2025. His final days were marked by what he cherished most: a feast of family, memories, laughter, tears, and most of all, love.
Born on April 10, 1951, Joe began working as a plumber at the age of 17. In 1992, he became a master plumber and started Breuss Plumbing, which grew to become a trusted name in the Wildwood community. His dedication, hard work, and larger-than-life personality made him not just a respected businessman but also a friend to many.
Joe was the devoted husband of his beloved wife, Kathy, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Best friends who built a wonderful life together, some of their greatest times were spent fishing in Grassy Sound, going on adventures, and building Breuss Plumbing side by side. After raising Krista, Joe, Jr., and Jason together, their legacy continues through their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Beyond his work, Joe was passionate about food, fishing, and bringing people together. He loved any reason to gather, especially when cooking Sunday dinners for his family, sharing a meal out with friends, and celebrating life. Known for his warm hugs and generous spirit, Joe would do anything for anyone. Later in life, he developed a deep spirituality, finding joy in connecting with people on a profoundly meaningful level.
He also shared a special bond with his dogs, who were always by his side. Joe was preceded in death by his beloved Janie and Butch and leaves behind his loyal companion, Garth. His happy place was sitting in his chair with one of his “babies” tucked under his arm.
Joe also loved being a part of his community. He was part of the very first National Night Out in Wildwood and looked forward to it every year. From the beginning, he made it his mission to grill every single hot dog at the event, something he continued faithfully every year until 2023. For Joe, it was never just about the food; it was about the joy of bringing people together and celebrating the place he called home.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Harry (Robert) and Wilma, and siblings Donna, Butch, Deuce, and Bobby. He is survived by his beloved wife Kathy, cherished children, Krista (Tommy Mohr) Breuss, Joseph (Jessica) Breuss, Jr., Jason Breuss, precious grandchildren Charles, Ashley, Joseph III, Kali Rose, Bryan, beautiful great-grandchildren, CJ, Jack, Jamison, Abbey Grace, loving siblings Bert (Richard) Emery, Bud Harrison Jr., Charon Boyle, treasured brothers and sisters-in-laws, and adored nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, dearly loved by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Evoy Funeral Home, where family and friends will be received from 10:00 with the service beginning at 11:00. A luncheon will follow at The Lobster House to celebrate Big Joe. Attendees are asked to bring along memories and stories of Joe to share with those who loved him most.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lazarus House in Wildwood.
